Instead of spending money on cigarettes, our government should be using its money on things that make positive affects on our country and its people. Managements For Organizational Excellence - Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss about the Management For Organizational Excellence. Answer: Introduction Brief of my organization, its operations, and my role Arab Bank is the first private sector financial institution in the Arab world, with headquarter based in Amman / Jordan. We rank amongst the largest international financial institutions by having an unmatched Global Arab branch network with 500 branches in more than 30 countries in 5 continents. Arab Bank covers four major areas, and those are: Personal Banking, Corporate / Investment Banking, Private Banking, and Treasury to serve all individuals, corporations, government agencies and other financial institutions. I have joined Arab Bank in September 16th, 2007 as a financial control associate. I am working now as a Middle Office Controller / Treasury Controller. My core job is to monitor, control, and report the activities that are executed by the staff in both the front and the back office (Treasury Operations). The focus is upon the preparation of accurate management information which will enable accurate measurement of performance and risk. Last year I got shifted from Financial Control Department to Risk Management Department. AC 1.1 Present situation and Analysis of the problem What is the problem and what may have caused it: The problem is that I got the appointment letter in my organization for a particular post and I am getting forced to take up the responsibilities of some other tasks in a repetitive manner. The problem has two areas to talk about; however both the areas are related to each other. I have chosen my job because its easier than picking any other organization and just imagining a problem. Scope This situation is pretty much concerning as in this way, the employees of the business organization will feel insecure as under the supervision of the authority I got assigned for 2 other jobs which were not mentioned in my job description and for that I can seek some legal help as this act is against the constitution. Impact The impact of this situation is tremendous as this is clearly a breach of contract and against the constitution. For this type of situations in the workplace, one can surely take legal help and issue a case in court. AC 2.1 Identification of problem 1 and possible solutions I will name the first problem as Job Description Farce. To be clearer, my job description is not what it really says when describing it above. I am doing three more jobs those are not suitable for me, neither matches my job description. I did speak about these issues to my HR manager Mr. Khan and the assistant manager Mr Qureshi. They said that as I am a new employee, I will be needing time to gain further experience and by taking up those tasks I will be able to learn things. What makes it worse is that I am not getting rewarded or appraised for the other three jobs. In fact, I am sitting in the wrong department. Currently I work in the Financial Control Department doing a finance job (Job 1) and my job description says that I am working for Risk Management Department which is true (Job2). In this scenario, I am not experiencing any kind of development in my career and I am not been able to learn anything and above all my satisfaction level is zero. These are the factors that are bo thering me. In this scenario, either I will have to talk to the governing body of the institution or I will have to seek legal help. AC 2.2 Summary of options I am one of the three Arab Bank Management Information System (MIS) team members (Job 3), this department is responsible for the information and generation of report for any department in all Arab Bank / Bahrain, despite having this section under Financial Control Department which contain two team members they do not do this job and this job is written in their job description (Neubertet al. 2015). As from my job title, my core job is to work as a Middle Office Controller / Treasury Controller (Job4) and this should be the job I am getting appraised for. Problem two Problem 2 is Be a climber and go top. A climber employee will step on anyone and everyone to move up the ladder, this employee spends a lot of time trying to carry favor mostly with the higher up positions and few with same grade positions; they are also called gossip employees, as their main focus is on the trash talks feels like a part of a group or to create what they see as camaraderie. So when one team members back is turned, this employee will try to bond with another person by speaking negatively about them, and when that second person back is turned the cycle continues (Marsick and Watkins 2015). I have talked about this issue to my colleagues and some of them are from my department and some others are from different departments. In this scenario, I can understand the situation in advance when they always will take all the credit they can, they would not think twice about lying or cheating to look good. They play the good guy game with everyone around. This climber individual always dedicates his energy to get ahead and he would not care how he will do it. He will do anything for a better job title, a bonus or a raise (Kaner 2014). The basic problem arises when a difficult task is allocated to them they will always complain in front of other team members, but while facing the boss they try to behave in a proper manner. They portray that they know the tasks in a better way and tries to be the first person in solving the problem of others (Rios, McConnell and Brue 2013). So I will name both problems asBias Chaos. Figure: decision making process Source: (Gamratet al. 2014 It scope (e.g. how widespread, how often, how much etc): This happens on daily basis with the same team member and they will get all the credit at the year-end appraisals by being the top performer (TP) along with other job titles as well as increments each and every year. Who, how and what it affects in the work place / team: As discussed above, no team member will show his/her grievance for this problem because this climber team member is acting camaraderie with all other team members. The good guy show is going on all over the year, and just exactly before the time of appraisal, they stand up in front of all other team members saying that they know the tasks in a better way than the rest of the team members. Surprisingly, team members take this issue lightly for the above reasons but I do not. As the biasness in the department is on the rise, I come to work and finish it off diligently before rushing back home instead of listening to these grapevine messages. I even was going to resign from my job because of this problem. If you perform so much and at the end of the year you do not get appreciated, you feel very down and there is no one to talk with or complain to(Kaner 2014). I think for an employee to work with full potential, motivation is an important factor and in workplace, reward and recognition helps in providing the same. What you are trying to achieve by solving the problem: To get every team member his/her right of fair appraisal without being biased to any particular team member especially climbers. What the result will be if no action has been taken: The increases in the number of employees who are trying to demotivate the honest employees have resulted in the fall of the performance in the organization. Unfortunately, the department will be very intolerable, which will result in very low productivity. As stated by Holmes and Stubbe (2015), any member of the team will do his/her best to leave this department as soon as possible. AC 3.1 Decision making technique I think that Nominal Group Technique can be used to solve these kinds of workplace related issues. In this way, the team has to divide into smaller groups in order to generate new ideas to solve the issues. Then the management takes the possible ideas and all the member of the teams has to discuss about those chosen ideas that they might accept (Yoder-Wise 2014). Finally the team members vote and the opinion gets most votes gets implemented to solve the issues (Carmeli 2014). This technique would surely serve the purpose as I think in this way equality would prevail and no one will be able to manipulate the decisions. Figure: decision making technique Source: Holmes and Stubbe(2015) Figure: Nominal group technique Source: (Carmeli 2014) Source: (Gamratet al. 2014) AC 4.1 Communication plan and implementation Employees Way of communication Decision Implementation Time taken Managers Email, Direct communication Transparency should prevail between the employees and employer Assess the choices of solution generated by the smaller groups 12th June to 13th August Team members Direct communication Equality should prevail in the team Generate innovative ideas to solve the issues 2nd October to 31st December Table: communication plan (Source: Goetsch and Davis 2014) Brief description of the possible solutions to the problem: Climbers see that they are normal persons, in some of the occasions they will even approach you for an advice saying why you dont do like me? Why you dont get along with the boss? Talk to him from time to time etc.. they think getting what you want or getting along with your boss is something normal. No use of grievance to others or higher authorities. Climbers might not be aware that they are misbehaving (Goetsch and Davis 2014). So I suggest having the situation pointed out to them in a manner that does not put them on the defensive, and might be a huge step to remedying the situation. There is nothing wrong with ambitions, but if you are working with a team member who is using dubious tactics to get to the top, I suggest one should fight in a proper manner. This doesnt mean using the same dubious tactic. Just make sure your own work is above and beyond what they are doing, and you shall be the one reaping career rewards in no time (Gamratet al. 2014). At the end you can choose yo ur friends but you cannot choose your colleagues at work. AC 4.2 Monitoring and review technique The managers of the business organization can use various tools for review and monitor the situations in the workplace like being observant, talking to the employees of the organization regarding the issues they are facing, distributing feedback sheets and by communicating in a one on one way (Gamrat et al.2014). These are the techniques using which the managers or the higher authority can notice the issues present in the workplace. These types of issues need to be solved with highest priority as these can effectively reduce the motivation level of the employees resulting in a decrease in the general productivity of the organization (Carmeli et al. 2014). How to monitor the situation To monitor the situation, I will have to gather feedbacks from my team members and the managers of the organization to track the improvement of the situation and apart from that I can arrange some meetings to get to the bottom of the issue. Conclusion Thus to conclude, it can be said that within a business organization there should be a transparency between the employers and the employees in order to sustain the motivation level and the loyalty of the employees of the organizations. Apart from that, I think the management should consider that the equality should prevail in the teams and the appraisal system should improvise the ways of judging the contribution of each members of the team in order to sustain the equality among all the members of the team. The assessment process should be fair and acceptable to everyone in order to maintain the satisfaction level of the employees to generate more productivity and profitability of the organization. Jonathan Swifts Gullivers Travels Essay Example

Jonathan Swifts Gullivers Travels Essay Jonathan Swift was without a shadow of doubt a great pacifist, satirist, and moralist. Mainly through pamphletism, he criticized imperialism and war with ferocity. â€Å"Gulliver’s Travels†, first published in 1726, can be seen as Swift’s ultimate pacifist pamphlet, summing up his views concerning moral and sociopolitical justice. Although â€Å"Gulliver’s Travels† is cherished as a children’s book it has triggered an ardent debate among philosophers, political scientists and literary critics. For instance, part four â€Å"A voyage to the country of the Houyhnhnms† was, for a long time, regarded by literary critics as the writings of an immoral, misanthropic, and obscene monster. According to Clubb, this view derives from a too literal interpretation of the allegory and from the common fallacy that Gulliver’s opinions reflect Swift’s (Clubb, 117). Indeed, the first key to understanding â€Å"Gulliver’s Travels† is to discriminate Swift’s moral and political outlook from Captain Gulliver’s accounts. For instance, the latter sees the Houyhnhnms as ideal beings who are governed by the principles of reason and truth, and are completely ignorant of the evils of controversy, dispute, and falsehood. In contrast, Swift seems to indicate that it should be rather dull and stifling to live in the utopic society of the Houyhnhnms. In this respect, the wise, but still human, Brobdingnagians introduced in part two of â€Å"Gulliver’s Travels† are more likely to represent Swift’s ideal beings. However, in terms of connection to the contemporary society, Swift’s illustration of Lilliputs’ community is as much controversial and problematic as our daily world. Misanthropology is named after the study of the cussedness of human nature and aims to investigate all sorts of human vices. In particular, misanthropy is viewed as the typical position of a disillusioned Utopian, whose former faith takes the form of unremitting contempt. According to Morson, Gulliver is clearly an Utopian who becomes disillusioned and eventually misanthropic. The visit to the land of the Brobdingnags teaches Gulliver to appreciate the physical and moral deformity of human beings. The king exposes the cultural misanthropology to Gulliver, whereas the country’s most beautiful women teach him its physical facet for being filthy and repulsive due to their size. However, Gulliver’s experience in Houyhnhnmland impedes him from drawing the right lesson from cultural and physical misanthropology. The close connection of his Utopianism with his misanthropy is also clear in the letter to th e editor. Gulliver complains that neither his accounts nor his social prescriptions produce any improvement in British society. Accordingly, Morson views â€Å"Gulliver’s Travels† as both misanthropic and a satire on misanthropy, for Swift demonstrates that he despises humanity for such vices as misanthropy (Morson, 56). At first sight, part one of â€Å"Gulliver’s Travels† seems to be a fairy tale about a giant dwelling with midgets. However, it contains clear innuendoes about the politics of the reign of Queen Anne, such as the feud between England and France. Furthermore, a flavor of Swift’s ideal model of justice is hinted at when Gulliver describes the laws and customs of Lilliput.   Gulliver’s Travels is neither the first nor the last literary work to discuss and stigmatize the legal system. In fact, Posner (1988) examines the legal contents in other classics such as William Shakespeare’s â€Å"The Merchant of Venice†, Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s â€Å"The Brothers Karamazov†, and Franz Kafka’s â€Å"The Trial†.   Capital punishment is recommended to fraudulent individuals because honest people are defenseless against fraud, whereas prudence and care suffice to mitigate the likelihood of thefts. Contemporary society debates over the pressing public issue of death penalty. From the critical perspective, Swift might have envisioned the controversial character of this ethical dilemma though for the eighteenth century England capital punishment was a regular and daily tradition. Nonetheless, the Lilliputian justice is equally disposed to reward and to punish: a citizen can claim, among other privileges, a financial reward and the status of â€Å"Snilpall† if he is able to provide enough evidence that he has been strictly lawful during the last 73 moons. Note that when an individual is accused of some crime, the conventional notion of fairness in a trial implies that the defendant is considered innocent until proven otherwise. From this perspective, the presumption of innocence is widely used in modern court systems. Nonetheless, in Lilliput society the burden of proof becomes inverted when a citizen claims the title of Snilpall for he is assumed guilty until proven otherwise. A shift in the burden of proof from plaintiff (in this case, the state) to defendant (the citizen claiming the status) presumably increases the likelihood of denying the reward to a lawful citizen, but decreases the probability of rewarding unlawful citizens. It is necessary to emphasize that in eighteenth century England the issue of gender equality has been regarded as theoretical for distinctions in gender were significant. According to Swift, Lilliputs’s society had the female nurseries, where â€Å"the young girls of quality are educated much like the males†¦ [and they] are as much ashamed of being cowards and fools as the men† (Swift, 55). Therefore, Captain Gulliver did not notice â€Å"difference of sex,† though some daily exercises for women â€Å"were not altogether robust.† Indeed, modern societies of America and Europe no longer make difference in gender, however, some reservations are held in the area of â€Å"robustness† specifically to males. Swift illustrates the absurdity of the conflict made on the basis of pride between the Lilliputians and the Blefescuns. Although the conflict around the question of how one should break an egg, â€Å"eleven thousand persons have, at several times, suffered death, rather than submit to break their eggs at the smaller end† (Swift, 41). Swift embedded in the following statement: â€Å"†¦ all true believers shall break their eggs at the convenient end† (Swift, 41). According to Swift, the matter of convenience should be left on every man’s conscience, and this idea left some room for speculation. In modern context, the right to break an egg from any side can be compared with one’s right to express opinion within censorship free society. Practically, there still are societies where censorship is considered to be a legitimate way to regulate social relations and relations on the individual-government level.

Behaviorist Theory essays

Behaviorist Theory essays The human mind constantly responds to the environment or external stimuli. Thus, the social environment and culture that we are exposed to, especially as infants and in our youth, condition our very thinking and behavior. This is precisely why family environment and values play a key role in personality development, as do religion, educational institutions, peer groups, and the media. Indeed, in many ways we are very much a product of our environment, which explains the commonality in values, lifestyles, and even fashion that can be observed within communities. In addition, our interaction with the environment teaches us the consequences or rewards of certain types of behavior, which then further influences and shapes our future behavioral patterns. The truth of the preceding statements is evident in my own behavior. My family and education, for instance, have definitely shaped my values. Similarly, my peers and the media influence my preferences in dress codes, music, films and books, to name a few examples. However, I do not entirely agree with the behaviorist theory that conditioning is responsible for all human actions. For, I believe that I have free will, which reflects in the choices I make about my own life, including, for example, my choice of courses in college or future profession. The fact that our understanding of life deepens and changes as we grow and develop our cognitive skills, moral and logical reasoning is, in fact, proof that individual human beings exercise their free will in interacting with their environment. Of course, it is not always easy to tell if past conditioning has influenced an apparent "free choice." To do so would require conscious reconstruction of one's past in order to distinguish between its affect, cognition, and the manner in which it continues to influence action. However, it has been established that an individual can be liberate...

For any theory of law, justice or rights to be worthy of our support, Essay

For any theory of law, justice or rights to be worthy of our support, it must involve a necessary connection with morality. To what extent, if at all, do you agree with this view - Essay Example crucial – referring to the fact that the reasons for the introduction of specific legal rules need to be clearly explained to the members of the society in which these rules involved; in practice, this policy is not always applied; instead, laws are developed in accordance with the personal perceptions of legislators. Under these terms, the obligations and the rights set by the laws in the context of a specific state could be doubted as of their credibility; however, there is a series of principles and concepts that are commonly used as the basis for the development of legal rules and the application of which ensures the respect of fundamental human rights and concerns; morality is one of these concepts; the role of morality in the development of various social and political schemes has been proved as quite important; in fact, morality has been employed in many social theories in order to justify the suggestions made for a series of social and political problems; moreover, the existence of morality in social theories increases the chances for the acceptance of these theories by the members of a specific society – or people in the international community. Current paper focuses on the examination of the potential connection between morality and the theory of law, justice and rights; the views of theorists that have studied the specific subject have been used in order to identify and evaluate the various aspects of connection between morality and the theory of law, justice and rights; it is proved that this relationship exists but it is likely to be differentiated in accordance with the social conditions to which each of these theories refer. Generally, social theories that refer to morality have a similar point of reference: the willingness of people for supporting the justice; however, this willingness is not always obvious; it can be expressed through a series of actions or it can be expressed verbally; in any case, this willingness exist – referring to the

APPLIED MANAGERIAL ECONOMICS Research Questions Paper

APPLIED MANAGERIAL ECONOMICS Questions - Research Paper Example c) Mathematical formulae for production system of The Village Inn Y1 a11 a12 a13 a14 X1 Y2 = a21 a22 a23 a24 x X2 Y3 a31 a32 a33 a34 X3 X4 It could be assumed that, Y1 = buttermilk pancakes Y2 = Skillets Y3 = Crepes Thus, X1 = Milk, X2 = Butter, X3 = Wheat and X4 = Eggs Lastly, aij are the weights that are associated with each input for the production of each item and, their values range between 0 and 1; i, j = 1 ... 4 d) According to the Law of Diminishing Returns, the productivity of a factor with other factors remaining unchanged tends to diminish over time. In the above example, if any of the components are added in excess of the rest, they cannot help in producing an extra unit of output, so that increase in quantity only diminishes its productivity. Answer to Question 2 a) A department store generally deals with a large number of items under a single roof and simultaneously has to employ a large number of salespersons. In this case, productivity of each employee implies the add itional number of commodities that the person is able to sale over time. In order to calculate the average productivity per employee thus, it is necessary to calculate the gross sales that the company made and divide it with the total number of transactions. b) Technical efficiency implies the efficiency with which inputs could be converted into output. Normally, the greater the volume of output that could be created with a given volume of input, higher is the efficiency of the concerned firm. In retail stores, this could be implies by the speed with which the sales are taking place. An ideal method to measure the same could be through estimating the number of days that a commodity stays in the inventory shelf. If the number of days is found to be higher than the average, technical efficiency of the company might be regarded as falling and vice-versa. Moreover, greater the technical efficiency is, lower is the per unit production cost incurred and greater is the profit generated. c) Economic efficiency is the extent to which the retail store can compromise their shelf space occupied by one commodity with that of another. In order to optimise the same, it is very important for them to be informed about the commodities which are highly demanded compared to those which are not. In case that they are able to make the substitution successfully, i.e., there is Pareto Optimality, the average cost of the company falls and its profit rises. Answer to Question 3 In the present case, the retired couple have to capture a part of the market that is largely served by the nearby chain restaurant. However, the difference between the two is that while the couple plans to establish a lunch-only restaurant, the nearby chain is a full-fledged one. Thus, the strategy that they must be adopting should be that like an oligopolistic market, where their strategies should be highly dependent upon the ones being adopted by the existing players of the industry. Four economic factors that they need to consider while determining their pricing strategy are – Firstly, the market is characterised by another major player who is already experiencing the advantage of being a first mover. Generally, in an oligopolistic

Inaccuracies in the Portraying of the American Revolution by Popular C Movie Review

Inaccuracies in the Portraying of the American Revolution by Popular Culture - Movie Review Example American Revolution dates back some years ago and this was the race to independence in America. The revolution also termed as a revolutionary war broke out due to differences between Britain and the colonial government. The war involved other groups who came in to assist one side, like France and this lengthened the conflict further. The troops from the British government and the colonial government men inspired the war as the fight for independence kicked off. Tensions leading to the outbreak of the war were due to the colonists feeling that they had no equal representation in parliament as the British counterparts.Arguably, the American Revolution comes out in different popular cultures like films and history books, although it has been difficult to portray it in these books and films because it turns to be controversial from the readers. An example of the challenges is that of the Americans who only want to refer their founders on only their positive side but ignore their negative actions during the revolution. This is a challenge because; the films that portray their founders’ negative side are highly criticized, whereas those depicting their positive side are encouraged. The filmmakers never wish to depict the British as an enemy to the Americans. To avoid this, therefore, they escape all the stories showing what happened to the founders in the films.From a different perspective, other films try to show exactly what happened during the revolution. For example, the film â€Å"Drums Along the Mohawk† shows how people were killed and even destruction of crops. These were activities done during the war. Although the film showed little about British, it is rated as one of the best films that tried to portray the American Revolution. However, the accuracy of the film is compromised by the fact that people were killed and crops destroyed but it is not clearly presented, on the contrary, it shows the fight as between settlers and Americans. Unlike th e aforementioned film, â€Å"Revolution† film does not clearly depict the hero in the war even the losers can become heroes. The inaccuracy of the film is that it does not show the battle as Americans fighting for liberty from the British, but it shows it as a civil war between the colonists. American Revolution comes out in another film, â€Å"The Patriots†, though there are inaccuracies about the war. It describes the revolution as a war for the liberation of African Americans. It also shows that the workers in the field were not slaves.   In their work, the filmmakers try to give a detailed report on the happenings during the revolution.

Cuneiform :: Egyptian Writing Essays

Cuneiform The earliest writing in Mesopotamia was a picture writing invented by the Sumerians who wrote on clay tablets using long reeds. The script the Sumerians invented and handed down to the Semitic peoples who conquered Mesopotamia in later centuries, is called cuneiform, which is derived from two Latin words: cuneus , which means "wedge," and forma , which means "shape." This picture language, similar to but more abstract than Egyptian hieroglyphics, eventually developed into a syllabic alphabet under the Semites (Assyrians and Babylonians) who eventually came to dominate the area. In Sumer, the original writing was pictographic ("picture writing"); individual words were represented by crude pictorial symbols that resembled in some way the object being represented, as in the Sumerian word for king. The first symbol pictures "gal," or "great," and the second pictures "lu," or "man." Eventually, this pictorial writing developed into a more abstract series of wedges and hooks. These wedges and hooks are the original cuneiform and represented in Sumerian entire words (this is called ideographic and the word symbols are called ideograms, which means "concept writing"); the Semites who adopted this writing, however, spoke an entirely different language, in fact, a language as different from Sumerian as English is different from Japanese. In order to adapt this foreign writing to a Semitic language, the Akkadians converted it in part to a syllabic writing system; individual signs represent entire syllables. However, in addition to syllable symbols, some cuneiform symbols are ideograms ("picture words") representing an entire word; these ideograms might also, in other contexts, be simply syllables. For instance, in Assyrian, the cuneiform for the syllable "ki" is written. However, as an ideogram, this cuneiform also stands for the Assyrian word irsitu , or "earth." So reading cuneiform involves mastering a large syllabic alphabet as well as a large number of ideograms, many of them identical to syllable symbols. This complicated writing system dominated Mesopotamia until the century before the birth of Christ; the Persians greatly simplified cuneiform until it represented something closer to an alphabet.

The General Environment 2. 1 Political Jewellery retail chain Poh Kong Holdings Bhd expects the price of gold to be on an upward trend this year(2012), fuelled by demand for the precious metal as investment. Movement of gold prices would depend on the political stability in Iran, where Poh Kong gets its supply. Poh Kong’s AGM expect that if war starts in iran, gold prices may increase by 30%. Last year, gold hit above US$1,900 per ounce but has since fallen to US$1,620 this month. Demand for gold globally is still on upward trend.The company are still seeing double-digit growth globally on gold bullion and bars, so there is still a potential for the company to move forward. Besides that, the high price of gold would bring higher margins for Poh Kong as the cost is passed down to retail customers. On bank offering gold investment, althou gh there is a bit competition, Poh Kong’s sales are not affected as customers still come bak to them. 2. 2 Economic Poh Kong Holdings Bhd is expecting a better financial year ahead, spurred by increased demand for gold from the public.When the price of gold escalates, the company’s selling price to retail customers increase in tandem. A higher gold price, therefore, has a positivr impact on the revenue. The biggest jeweller in the country by the number of outlets says its sales are not affected by the volatility in gold prices. Instead, sales of gold bars increase, as the rich look for a safe investment. Analysts say the company can ride the increased appetite for gold as a â€Å"safe investment class†, especially amid economic and financial uncertainties.The US Federal Reserve’s decision to pump more money into the financial system with a second round of quantitative easing will also mean more money going into commodities like gold, which will drive pric es even higher. However, this would also mean higher inflation, which would fuel the upward trend of gold prices. For FY2010, Poh Kong reported an 11. 24% rise in net profits to RM31. 61 million on the back of a smaller 3. 62% increase in revenues to RM561. 24million. EPS was 7. 7 sen, up from 6. 93 sen the year before. Net profit and operating margins increased in FY2010 to 5. 63% and 9. 8%, respectively, from 5. 25% and 9. % in FY2009. 2. 3 Social Poh Kong Group's CSR initiatives are in line with Bursa Malaysia's framework centered towards the workplace, marketplace, community and environment. Corporate’s CSR programme embraces responsibility for the Company's actions and encourages a positive impact through its activities by its employees, caring for consumers, giving back to the under privilege d through societal welfare work and environmental protection.The Group aligns its corporate activities to social causes with the various target publics as we endeavor to create a more caring community and make a significant difference in the lives of many in society. In this respect, Poh Kong recognizes its CSR is to foster mutually beneficial relationships with our stakeholders and society through active participation and help improve the living standards of the surrounding communities. 2. 4 Technological Science and technology are closely related in the gold mining process, especially in the extracting and processing of the metal. Gold is a golden ellow metal, which is solid at room temperature. Gold can be extracted in many ways. Mining for gold is only worthwhile financially where there is a significant concentration of it found in ore. The fixed price of gold in 1934 increased from $20. 67 U. S. to $35 U. S. per troy ounce. This price remained fixed until 1968 which discouraged hard rock mining for gold because increased inflation (which raised the cost of mining production) prevented the mining companies from making a profit. 3. 0 Task Environment Analysis Gold mines tend to have a huge impact on the environment.From digging out a huge pit, to disposing of the left over chemicals and tailing. If a gold mine isn't managed properly it can have some very negative impacts on the environment. A common impact is when water used in the mining process is polluted with chemicals from the factory and then put back into rivers and streams. Cyanide used to extract gold can pollute the rivers and kill fish and other. 3. 1 Green Awareness In contributing to the environment, Poh Kong believes in green awareness activities and eco-friendly measures that reduces the carbon footprint generated by the organization's infrastructure and working towards reducing wastage. . 2 Energy Conservation Through the combined effort and dedication of each employee, environment-friendly lifestyles that promote green technology are practised. This include using light-emitting diode bulbs (LEDs) for energy saving lighting, the automatic shutdown of desktop computers while not in use, maintaining air-conditioning at comfortable, but lower temperatures, switching off non-essential lights and equipment, and the recycling of materials have all reduced costs savings. 3. 3 On a Green QuestWe help minimise the impact on the environment by restricting the use of hazardous substances, undertaking the safe disposal of waste discharge and the monitoring of pollution levels for a clean environment. Poh Kong believes in minimum wastage and is working towards a zero waste discharge policy in the jewellery manufacturing process. The Company takes back gold products at end-of-use or end-of-life for responsible reuse, recycle, remanufacture or recovery of the gold in the refining process.The Company's aim is to provide and maintain a clean environment for sustainable development for current and future generations. It strives to fulfill the social, environmental and ethical obligation which is vital in global environmental sustainability. 4. 0 SWOT Strength POH KONG is a well-know brand and is attractive for those who admire beautiful jewelry. The POH KONG is successful in designing, provided quality product and the hardware to make the jewelry.
